radim hanousek is studying jazz performance at the JAMU school of the arts here in Brno
Radim Hanousek has been studying PhD at Brno's Janáček Academy of Music And Performing Arts since 2016. His primary project at the moment is the NOCZ quartet, fronted by trumpetist Didrik Ingvaldsen. Alongside that, he has his own project, Dust in the Groove. But quite a few other groups also see and hear a lot of him: several comtemporary classical projects (with Peter Graham, Dunami ensemble, Lucie Vítková, and Michal Indrák), the Husa na provázku theatre, and the Brno Philharmonic. He also has some involvement in a variety of other jazz projects (Cotatcha Orchestra, Mulligang). And he's lent a musical hand to several persons and projects outside of jazz, like music for Feste a D'EPOG theatres as well as publisher Albatros, who needed music for their audiobooks.
In 2018 Hanousk's composition It Could Happen won first place in the Karel Krautgartner Composers' Competition for Jazz Orchestra.
As an improviser he has worked with Roland Dahinden, Franz Hautzinger, Iva Bittová, Didrik Ingvaldsen, Dag Magnus Narvesen, Lily Kiara, George Cremaschi, Peter Graham, Ivan Palacký, Martin Opršál, Pavel Zlámal, Fabio Delvo, Orbita, Filigrán and many others.
